Excerpt from Mark Twain's essay "The Cat," where he discusses the behavior and character of cats
When a man loves cats, I am his comrade without further introduction. I have, met a good many people in my time who were supposed to be hard-hearted, but I never saw one of them that was not particularly fond of cats. The aloofness and otherworldly nature of cats has made them the object of both affection and curiosity for countless writers, and Mark Twain's writings on the subject are just one example.
